Rob Budde teaches creative writing and critical theory at the University of Northern British Columbia. He has published seven books (poetry, novels, interviews, and prose poems). His most recent book is Finding Ft. George from Caitlin Press.
Amanda Follett is a Smithers-based freelance writer who can be found exploring northern BC with her two second-hand dogs in her second-hand truck.
Rob Sturney has lived in New Hazelton since 1981 and has taught at Hazelton High since 1994. He is fanatical about cycling, coffee and travel, especially if he can enjoy them all simultaneously.

Hans Saefkow is an award-winning editorial cartoonist, illustrator and set designer. If you see this man, do not approach him, feed him, or listen to his idle chatter. It is simply best not to encourage him.
Julie Chaplin is originally from Ontario but is growing roots in Smithers. A Certified Holistic Health Practitioner, she offers Oriental Bodywork Therapy when she isn’t running after her toddler, playing in the dirt, or singing her heart out.
Tanya Davidson is a casual outdoor enthusiast who enjoys the Northwest’s seasonal pursuits. Between polishing her canoe strokes, chasing her toddler around the yard, and the usual gamut of trashy fiction and serious non-fiction, her summer looks pretty much booked.
Facundo Gastiazoro is a freelance designer who focuses on logos, posters, layout and illustrations. Originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina, Facundo is currently living in Smithers. His illustrations appear in every issue of Northword Magazine.
Matt J Simmons is a freelance writer currently based in Prince Rupert. He writes primarily about BC’s incredible landscapes, both natural and cultural, and is continuously seeking out the next big adventure.
Charlynn Toews has been in printing and publishing since 1985. She has published in daily and weekly newspapers, national magazines, and loves a good regional. She writes a regular column for Northword from her home in Terrace.
Tracy Morton is a family physician on Haida Gwaii. His philosophy of care is to equip people with the best available information to make health decisions that are right for them. Besides medicine, his interests include kayaking, climbing, cooking, travel, yoga and hanging out with his family.
Josh Massey is a poet, fiction writer, reviewer, and essayist living in Telkwa. His first novel, we will all be trees, is forthcoming this fall from Conundrum press.
Sarah Artis is a freelance writer and photographer based in Terrace. She loves northern BC’s warm people, wide open spaces, happy dogs, and big trees, mountains and rivers.
Jane Stevenson, born by the Atlantic and raised by the Pacific, has lived in the Bulkley Valley for eight years. She presently resides on an acreage near Telkwa with her husband and two little girls.
Frances Riley is a part-time writer, part-time musician and full-time outdoor addict living in sunny Prince Rupert. Raised on a sailboat and currently apprenticing in the mountains, she loves singing–and writing– northern BCs praises.
